Long-form description

CoPilot Interview is the AI interview assistant trusted by candidates and hiring managers to perform their best in real-time interviews.

For candidates: Real-time, resume-aware answers during live interviews on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. Ghost Mode is invisible to anyone you are screen-sharing with. Coding interview help with optimal solutions, Big-O analysis, and edge cases (Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, Rust, and 50+ more). System design interview guidance with diagrams and trade-off analysis. Behavioral interview support using STAR+ framework. AI resume builder that tailors LaTeX/Markdown resumes to each job description in 30 seconds.

For interviewers and hiring managers: Interviewer Mode generates context-aware questions, scores answers in real time, and produces structured evaluation reports. Reduces interview prep time from 30 minutes to 30 seconds per candidate.

Privacy and trust: Audio is processed locally on your machine, never stored on our servers. Multi-model AI: choose between OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Groq, or xAI. Free desktop app for Windows and macOS, no credit card required.

The founding story

CoPilot Interview started after the founding team froze in three technical interviews in a row over a single month — not because they didn't know the answers, but because the cognitive load of listening, parsing, formulating, and speaking under pressure was overwhelming. The classic "I knew it the moment I hung up" problem.

Existing AI tools at the time were either obvious browser extensions that interviewers could spot, or generic ChatGPT wrappers that took 30 seconds to respond — too slow to be useful in a live conversation. Nothing was built for the actual workflow: a real-time, screen-share-safe assistant that listens, transcribes, and surfaces a tailored answer in about 4 seconds.

So the team built it. The first version was a hacky desktop overlay. The current version is a polished cross-platform app with multi-model AI (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Groq, xAI), ghost mode, coding interview support, system design guidance, an AI resume builder, and a separate Interviewer Mode for hiring managers who realized the same tech could speed up their evaluation loops.

CoPilot Interview is built by engineers who froze in interviews themselves. It's the tool we wished existed when we were on the candidate side of the table.

Commonly asked by reporters

Is it ethical for candidates to use this in interviews?

That is a real and ongoing debate. Our position: AI assistants are increasingly part of how engineers do their daily work, and interview tooling will continue to evolve alongside that. We built ghost mode and screen-share-safety because candidates were already going to use AI either way; we wanted them to do it without compromising the interview's integrity for the interviewer. We also built Interviewer Mode for hiring managers who want to detect or factor in this reality, not pretend it does not exist.

How is this different from Final Round AI, Parakeet AI, Sensei AI, or Cluely?

Three differentiators: (1) desktop app, not a Chrome extension — survives screen-share, (2) multi-model AI by default rather than a single locked-in provider, (3) Interviewer Mode for hiring managers in addition to the candidate-facing assistant. See vs Final Round AI and vs Parakeet AI for full feature breakdowns.

Where is the audio sent?

Audio is captured and transcribed on the user's machine. The text of the question is then sent to the user's chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, or xAI) over an encrypted connection. We do not store interview audio, transcripts, or AI answers on our servers.

What's your business model?

Freemium. Free desktop app on Windows and macOS, with paid Pro and Pro+ tiers that unlock premium AI models (Gemini 2.5+, Claude Haiku 4.5, GPT-4 family) and Interviewer Mode features. Plus enterprise licensing for hiring teams of 10+.
